About us

Lindarhóll Guesthouse is a family-run guest house in the countryside of Hróstunga, a short distance north of Egilsstaðir. The guest house is located by the majestic Dyrfjöll mountains which offers some of the best scenic views of East Iceland. Lindarhóll is an old farmhouse that has been rebuilt to a luxurious guesthouse - where warmth and design collide. Lindarhóll guesthouse opened its doors in 2024.

The large grounds of more than 200 hectares are vast and peaceful. We have two lakes on our property that are a good destination for a quite stroll.

The guesthouse

The guest house has seven spacious rooms. There are four double rooms with a private bathroom, one room for a triple occupancy with a private bathroom and two rooms double rooms with a shared bathroom. All our guests have access to a spacious lounge on the ground floor. We ask that guests check-in on their own upon arrival. Breakfast included.

The area

In Hróarstunga there are many interesting things to do in addition to enjoying the nature of the area. There are organised horse trips on the farms Húsey and Geirastaðir in the summer months. Nearby, in Kirkjubær, there is also one of the oldest wooden churches in East Iceland, as well as an old farm near Galtastaðir that was built in 1882.

Borgarfjörður Eystri is a beautiful place with a natural Puffin colony, this town is located 49 km from Lindarhóll. To the west and south of Lindarhól is Stuðlagil (62 km). If you want to relax at the popular Vök Baths, they are located 23 km from our guesthouse, however, should you want to find restaurants and shops, Egilstaðir is only 3 km further than the Vök Baths or 26 km from Lindarhóll. A trip to Fljótsdalur is also within reach from Lindarhóll. This area is a 57 km drive away and there you can see Iceland's second highest waterfall, Hengifoss (128 m) and its sister waterfall Litlanesfoss, which is surrounded by a spectacular rock canyon. If a few kilometres are added during the journey you will have the opportunity to visit the historical site of Skriduklaustur (62 km).
